Ebonised Oak Wine Rack

Designed to make use of an awkward cupboard space in a client’s kitchen, this wine rack fits snugly and holds up to 5 bottles of wine. It was made using traditional joinery and hand tools, as well as modern machinery, and then finished using a traditional staining technique called ebonising. Here, a chemical reaction between the tannins in the oak and a steel wool and vinegar solution, gives a rich dark colour - similar to that of ebony wood.
